Marc Slors

Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies 

Marc Slors (1966) is Professor of Philosophy of Mind and Cognition at the Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies of Radboud University in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. After his PhD, supervised by Marya Schechtman of the University of Illinois at Chicago, he acquired a three-year postdoc grant for a project on emergentism from the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). This project was conducted partly at Radboud University Nijmegen and partly at the Australian National University as a visiting fellow of the Research School of Social Sciences. He then obtained a five-year fellowship from the Royal Netherlands Academy of the Arts and Sciences (KNAW). In November 2005 he became full professor of Philosophy of Mind and Cognition at the Radboud University, Nijmegen. He works on various problems connected with the mind-brain relation, such as the problem of consciousness, free will, social cognition and personal identity. He is currently working on a book on culture and situated cognition.
