Bas Bloem,
Professor of Movement Disorders
Professor Bas Bloem directs the Centre of Expertise for Parkinson & Movement Disorders at Radboudumc, Nijmegen, The Netherlands. He received his medical degree, with honours, in Leiden (1993) and obtained his PhD degree in 1994. He also trained as neurologist in Leiden (1994-2000). He was trained as movement disorders specialist at The Parkinson's Institute, California, and Institute of Neurology, Queen Square, London. In 2008, he was appointed professor of movement disorders neurology. Bloem is co-Editor in Chief of the Journal of Parkinson’s Disease and is on the editorial board for several other journals. He has published >640 peer-reviewed papers. He has supervised 48 completed PhD dissertations. His H-index is 86 (Research Gate). Bloem is past-president of the International Society for Gait and Postural Research. He is Secretary of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society and previously served on many committees, task forces and study groups. He serves on the Executive Scientific Advisory Board of the MJ Fox Foundation and is member of the Academia Europaea and the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences
